FOREST STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL™ (FSC™)
The Forest Stewardship Council™ enables you to buy our products with confidence that you are not contributing to global forest destruction. A system of Chain of Custody certification traces forest products through the supply chain, through all stages of production and distribution and finally to Pledge.
Pledge Office Chairs, in accordance with the universal requirements of the council, takes ownership of their timber products; monitor their purchases, handling and sales of FSC™ material. This is audited by accredited certification bodies that make sure that the systems are adequate to maintain the integrity of the FSC™ label before issuing a Chain of Custody certificate, with a number unique to the organisation.   Download   here.
FURNITURE INDUSTRY SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAMME (FISP)
Sustainable development is now an important issue for all businesses and especially so for furniture manufacturing. Governments, retailers and increasingly consumers are demanding that the products they purchase should be produced sustainably and an industry-wide initiative has been created to achieve this benchmark practice. Pledge Office Chairs are full members of this program. The Government has identified four key objectives for delivery of sustainable development:
- Social progress which recognises the needs of everyone
- Effective protection of the environment
- Prudent use of natural resources
- Maintenance of high and stable levels of economic growth and employment
Pledge products contain many components that are wholly recyclable. Product returned to our factory by one of our authorised partners, or an end user can be broken down to its component parts for reassembly into new products or disposal to various companies for recycling into raw materials. The small cost for this service far outweighs the negative impact to the environment due to careless disposal.
FIRA's Club Green takes an integrated approach to the challenge of environmental improvement. It is an industry wide scheme for the industry to share knowledge and develop solutions to facilitate legislative compliance and assist with the introduction of environmental management systems (EMS) such as ISO14001.
